I’m Maia,

a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California and Vermont.

The intention of my counseling practice is to support my clients in self-love and self-responsibility. I offer gentle and clear guidance on the way to wholeness. This includes letting go of beliefs or mindsets that are pathologizing or focus on what’s “wrong with you.”

To address root issues and trauma, I take a gentle approach. Together we will slowly and respectfully attend to wounded parts. By building a trusting relationship with your adult, healthy self now, these wounded parts can be cared for and integrated into your whole being. In addition to a psychodynamic approach, I use Internal Family Systems techniques to bring harmony to your internal system.

I encourage my clients to know what they want, to live in alignment with themselves and Nature, and to claim their authentic power. My work is efficient, direct, and collaborative.

I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Trained in depth psychology, I use dream work, metaphor, and archetypes to inform our sessions.

Passionate about the power of nature, I was certified in Ecotherapy (nature based healing) in 2015. I believe the merging of ecology and psychology are needed at this time. Our mental wellbeing is in relationship to the wellbeing of Earth. As a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance, I provide climate-aware therapy to those struggling with climate distress.

I grew up on the East Coast in an artsy, hippie family. After listening to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, I began to express myself through dance. I trained at Boston Ballet School from 12-19 years and then was a dance major, environmental studies minor at Skidmore College.

Certified in permaculture design in 2011 through Quail Springs, my intention has been to live the principles of people care, earth care, and fair share. In my free time I love latin dancing, farmers market, reading in bed, the woods, and long bike rides.
